Alias: pineapple enzyme
Introduction: bromelain is a pure natural plant protease extracted from peel and core of pineapple by biotechnology. Its molecular weight is 33000, and isoelectric point is 9.55. It is a kind of blond powder with sweet smell of pineapple, and belongs to sulfhydryl protease for its active center of sulfhydryl (i.e. –SH), which can make various biochemical reactions (such as proteolysis) occur. It is widely used in industries of food, medicine and biology etc.
Brief Introduction
The enzyme activity is lasting, and may be stored for many years without decay. It is little affected by the outside circumstances, such as the temperature. The enzyme activity may be up to 3000GDU/g at maximum. Bromelain is widely used in medical health care, food, cosmetic and feedstuff etc.

Efficiency of anti inflammation
Bromelain can effectively treat inflammation and edema in various tissues. If used with low dose antibiotic and other enzymes, it may treat rheumatoid arthritis with good curative effect.
Inhibition for growth of tumor cells
Bromelain, with fibrinolytic activity and the function of inhibiting platelet aggregation, can disturb the coagulation of fibrin and tumor cell, and reduce the immune toxicity of monocyte for patients with tumor of breast.
Prevention of cardiovascular disease
Bromelain can reduce the risk of apoplexy and heart disease caused by platelet aggregation. It helps relieve angina, alleviate artery contraction, and accelerate fibrinogenolysis.
Immune stimulation
A certain component of bromelain can be used for curing some disorders with immune system inhibited, or used as a vaccine adjuvant. The bromelain for improvement of drug absorption may stimulate the transport of antibiotic at the infected parts, and so reduce the dosage of antibiotic.
Decrustation in burn healing
Bromelain can selectively remove the dead skin cells so that the skin grafting may be performed as early as possible. Bromelain has no adverse effect on normal skin around.

Bromelain can be used on the aging horny layer for gradually degenerating, decomposing and finally eliminating the layer, so as to promote skin metabolism. Food
Bromelain can help hydrolyze the proteins contained in foods into small molecule peptides or amino acid and so strengthen the nutritional ingredients of the foods. It is widely used in beer manufacture and meat tenderization.
